How accurate are the monthly 'Household bills'?

Our 'Household bills' feature gives only an indication of what the running costs are likely to be. All the costs displayed there are estimates only and we are working hard to make them as accurate as possible.

The mortgage value is included in our 'House prices' section to give home-owners an idea of the costs to remortgage; in our 'For sale' section, a mortgage value is estimated to give prospective buyers an impression of the cost of a mortgage. Always ensure mortgage lenders are consulted to obtain an accurate quote. We do not accept any responsibility for any inaccuracies or errors in this regard.

The estimated Energy cost for any property is calculated using actual energy usage data for a property of this type, number of bedrooms and region.

The Broadband information shows the estimated 'pay from' monthly cost based on the average speed that can be achieved in the local area.

Home Insurance is based on the average price of a building and contents quote for a property in a given area in the last 48 months.

Water consumption is based on average water usage for the predicted occupancy of the property based on the number of bedrooms. Total annual consumption (in cubic meters) is then averaged into a monthly cost.

The Council Tax cost displayed is based on the council tax band and on the basis of 2 adults living at the property. The monthly cost shown excludes any discounts and is rounded to the nearest pound.
